As promised<\/a>, we’re looking into the Warhammer Day Preview Online<\/a> review. Time to see what and maybe when massive new arrivals are on the horizon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warhammer 40,0000<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We’ll start with the 900-lbs Patriarch in the room. The next battle box, Shadow Throne<\/strong>, brings Genestealer Cults to very gates of Terra. The Adeptus Custodes will rise will rise to the occasion in this asymmetric conflict of transhuman capability versus xenos stealth and cunning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

As we’ve seen from previous battle boxes, Shadow Throne contains a solid mix of old models and a single, powerful new character for both factions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aristothes Carvellan, a Blade Champion<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Mersea Thrayk, a Reductus Saboteur<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Aristhothes specializes in close combat, switching effortlessly between three different fighting styles. Meanwhile Meresa places mining charges throughout the battlefield. They’re powerful enough to even rattle a Custoes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The featured factions will also receive a new Codex along with the battle boxes release. Codex Adeptus Custodes folds the Talons of the Emperor together under one cover. Yes, the Sisters of Silence officially join the Custodes codex!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Codex: Genestealer Cults revamps key GSC mechanics. In addition to sneaking into forward positions, the Cults set up deadly crossfires that give bonuses to their shooting<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both books also include thematic Crusade rules to let you rise to the Emperor’s side or bring about the Day of Ascension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Release hasn’t been announced other than later this year, but I am expecting late November or early December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warhammer – Age of Sigmar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Pull on your plague doctor’s mask, the Maggotkin of Nurgle have been confirmed as the next battletome for Age of Sigmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The battletome updates the Maggotkin for the current edition with even more ways to spread their plagues. Beware the Diseased battle trait. This army-wise ability slowly wears down any unit that have fought or are even nearby a Maggotkin unit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

A new battletome brings with it a new model release. The new Nurlge sorcerer shows Nurgle’s generous gifts and even includes a fly head. Subtle!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Expect the Maggotkin sometime in December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blood Bowl<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I mean Dungeon Bowl<\/strong>! This stand alone game takes the action undergorund with a mad scramble to find the ball and then get it to the goal. One touchdown takes the entire game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, Dungeon Bowl is sponsored by the eight colleges of magic and teams are handpicked by the wizards. Expect each to be composed of a variety of models from different teams. The ones included include Skaven, Dark Elves, Ogres, Dwarves, and Grots. And you’ll be able to make your own!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warcry Red Harvest<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Red Harvest takes Warcry into the Varanhite Mines scattered throughout the Eight Points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With astonishing new terrain and warbands, Red Harvest provides a fantastic new entry point for new players and expansion for experienced ones. Best of all, Warcry – Red Harvest goes on preorder this weekend with a release date of November 13th. Check it out in the Preorders category this weekend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warhammer Underworlds<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our last review item unveils the first Warhammer Underworlds warband since the launch of Harrowdeep, Blackpowder’s Buccaneers. Featuring the adventures of a sea going Ogor, his loyal (?) Gnoblar crew, and the “pets” of his menagerie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The warband includes a complete deck to let you jump straight into the Rivals format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the inclusion of every faction in Age of Sigmar present in Warhammer Underworlds, the Buccaneers mark a new direction for warbands. In the future we’ll be seeing more creatively themed warbands. Hopefully, we won’t see Skaven Pie-Rats, but you never know.

Release date hasn’t been announced at this point, but expect to see it before year’s end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
