When I wrote about Draconith<\/a> the other day, I speculated Battletome Stormcast Eternals would be releasing soon. I was not expecting teasers to start falling today! However, Warhammer Community<\/a> waits on no one!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Draconith, Karazai<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Let’s start off with the Draconith, our teaser is for Karazai the Scarred. Once he gets going on the tabletop, he only gets better. The Fires of Vengeance rule adds attacks when he destroys enemy Hero<\/strong> and Monster<\/strong> units. In addition, if they were a beefy Hero<\/strong> or Monster<\/strong>, then his run and charge rolls ramp up as well. However, even smaller game are a valid target as units with a Wound characteristic of 2 or less will heal 1 of Karazai’s wounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stormkeeps for Stormcast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Instead of riding the lighting from high Azyr into battle, Stormcast Eternals may find themselves defending hard won territories including the newly founded cities in the Mortal Realms. Gaining the Stormkeep<\/strong> keyword, these Stormcast excel at holding actions and defensive battles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their first Battle Trait, Mortal Auxiliaries, allows them to recruit coalition units from Cities of Sigmar. One out of every four units may have the Cities of Sigmar<\/strong> keyword and they gain the Stormkeep<\/strong> keyword. While your General may not hail from the Cities, each of the coalition units gains +1 Bravery when wholly within 12 inches of a Stormcast Reedemer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Our next Stormkeep Battle Trait, Shield of Civilization, emphasizes the defensive prowess of these Stormcast. For the first two battle rounds, each Stormcast Redeemer<\/strong> counts as three models for contesting objectives in their home territory. However, on the third and following battle rounds, they count as three models to contest any objective! In addition, Stormcast Redeemer units within 6″ of an objective, lash out at enemy units challenging them. Any enemy unit ending a charge move within1″ of that unit takes D3 mortal wounds on a roll of 3+. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, we have the Staunch Defender Commander Trait. If the unit with Shield of Civilization is wholly within 12″ of the general, the unit may reroll the number of mortal wounds inflicted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wrapping Up Stormcast Teasers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new Stormkeep traits suggest they will not just hold the line. They’re indicative of a grinding advance to trigger the midgame advantages of Shield of Civilization. Additionally, Mortal Auxiliaries gives them access to large, cheap units for use as tarpits or to screen your more valuable Stormcast. Alternately, Cities of Sigmar contains many powerful units of their own. Between Freeguild troopers, Steam Tanks, Duardin Gyros, or Hydras, you’ll find a plethora of unique answers to you battlefield problems.

As for Karazai, let him get at the wrong units and you’ll find him a unstoppable whirlwind of destruction by the end of the game.
